East Side Trailer Fire

On Monday 3/13/23 at 1647hrs Dover Fire Communications Dispatched the Dover Fire Department for a trailer fire in the 1500 block of North Little Creek Rd. The incident was upgraded to a working alarm adding Engine Company 54 (Little Creek Fire Co.) Kent County ALS and Saint Francis EMS 63. Headquarters was staffed and Engine 1 responded with 5 personnel and was advised of several calls reporting the trailer to be involved. Engine 1 arrived to find a single wide manufactured home with fire throughout assuming the first due Engine and passed command to Dover 19. Engine 1 hand stretched to a hydrant and established a water supply. The Crew of Engine 1 deployed a 1.75” handline to the rear door on the Delta side for fire attack. As the crew was Stretching the line a person was found on the ground outside the trailer on the C/D corner alert and breathing. Engine 1 officer checked on the individual who was able to get up and move one their own. Engine 1 entered the trailer and began to extinguish the fire and advised of hoarding conditions. Engine 54 arrived as the second due Engine and was directed to deploy a second handline for fire attack through the front door on the Bravo side Dover 19 arrived and assumed Command. Squad 1 arrived as the first Special Service and was directed for the Primary Search with conflicting reports of a subject still inside. Squad 1 entered the rear door under fire conditions to begin their search. Engine 4 arrived as the third due Engine and was assigned to deploy a third handline to the rear door to assist Squad 1. The primary search by Squad 1 proved 1 priority 4 K9 and 1 priority 4 Feline, with no civilians located. Squad 2 and Squad 54 conducted the Secondary search that proved negative. All occupants were accounted for outside the fire building. The fire was placed under control with extensive overhaul to take place. BLS C63 transported 1 to the local hospital for evaluation. The Fire is under investigation by the City of Dover Fire Marshals Office.
This was Engine 1s first working fire after being in service just a little over 48 hours.
