Fuel Spill

On October 16, 2014 at 1426, Dover Fire was alerted for a tractor trailer leaking a unknown substance, just south of the main toll plaza on the north bound side of Route 1. Chief Carey was first on scene to find a tractor trailer carrying 5,700 gallons of oil and diesel fuel leaking from the under carriage tank of the trailer. Crews on scene dyked the area to prevent the spread of diesel fuel. Hazmat 48 was requested for the off loading of fuel and additional hazmat materials. The tank was removed by utilizing holmotro equipment off of E2. The scene was turned over to DNREC for further investigation.

Station 41 handled a Bus MVC in front of the mall for us while we were operating on scene. 6 patients were taken to KGH for evaluation.
