Thursday, July 2, 2015

On May 13, 2014 at 0327 hrs, the Dover Fire Department was alerted to a large fuel spill in the area of the main toll plaza on SR1. An 18-wheel tractor-trailer had run over debris in the roadway that ruptured a fuel line. E6, under the direction of Capt. Kelly, arrived on scene and immediately began to contain the spill. The fuel was shut off and DNREC was requested. DNREC Officers and the Hazardous Material spill trailer housed at the Felton Community Fire Co. arrived on scene. Approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel was cleaned from the roadway. Crews remained on scene for almost two hours cleaning and making the area safe.
