Fatal House Fire - S. New St.

Thursday, July 2, 2015

On January 08, 2012 at 2025, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to 38 S. New St for a working house fire. DFD dispatched received word that Dover PD was on scene with fire showing from the second floor. It was also believed that there may be a subject unaccounted for, believed to be still inside the residence. E4, under the direction of Chief Fortney, was first on scene and found fire showing from division 2 on the Alpha and Bravo side of a 2-story single family dwelling. E4 secured a water source and advanced a 1-3/4” attack line through the front door of the residence. Crews encountered fire conditions at the top of the stairs and a bedroom. E4’s crew quickly knocked down the fire while performing a primary search. The crew regrettably found a victim who had perished in the fire.  L1 arrived on scene and advanced a second 1-3/4” attack line. Additional crews arrived on scene and performed additional search and rescue, ventilation and overhaul. The fire is currently under investigation by the City of Dover FMO and Dover Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased and his family members for their loss.
