McKee Run Generation Station Drill

Friday, November 30, 2018

On Thursday, November 29th, the DFD participated in a required EPA drill at the McKee Run Generation Station. The scenario was the structural failure of a fuel oil storage tank spilling 2.7 million gallons of #2 fuel oil. The drill tested the response of the Generation Station staff and local responders to mitigate the spill. The DFD worked in conjunction with NAES, City Electric, Dover PD, DelDOT (drone), DNREC, KCDPS and Miller Environmental Group Inc. It was a great training opportunity to work on something we do not usually do on a daily basis.

Special thanks to crews from Camden-Wyoming VFC, Cheswold VFC and the Little Creek VFC who stood by and covered our District while we were at the drill. We appreciate helping us out.
