Wednesday, July 12, 2017

On Wednesday June 28th, 2017, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a working structure fire in building "B" of the Towne Point Apartments. Additional calls began coming in to DFD dispatch reporting subjects trapped in an apartment, also on the 3rd floor of that building. Engine 6 arrived on location to find smoke showing from the alpha side (front) 3rd floor of a 3 story apartment building with Dover PD confirming a subject trapped on the 3rd floor charlie side (rear). The crew from the Engine secured a water supply, threw ground ladders and stretched an attack line to the 3rd floor. After a quick search, a female victim was located and rescued from the apartment adjacent to the one that was on fire. There were a total of three civilians injured as a result of the fire, one of which was transported to the hospital (condition is unknown). Additional crews from Ladder 2, Utility 1, Engine 4, Engine 3, Ladder and Engine 54 (Little Creek) and Ambulance 41 (Camden) assisted in victim removal, search, fire suppression and overhaul. Fire Chief Buck Carey placed the scene under control and it was turned over to the City FM for investigation.
