Working Kitchen Fire

On December 27, 2016 at 1258, the Dover Fire Department was alerted for a possible working fire in the 300 block of Mimosa Ave. Asst Chief Michael O’Connor Jr. (20) was first on scene to find a two-story, single family dwelling with an active fire in the kitchen. 20 confirmed a working alarm and the alarm was retransmitted. E6 was first on scene. A water supply was established as the crew advanced a 1-3/4” attack line through the front door. L2 arrived on scene. Crews threw ground ladders and went to the second floor to check for fire extension. E3 arrived on scene and assisted with overhaul. During the search and rescue process, FF Daniel Godwin and FF Trey Small were able to rescue a canine from the basement. The animal was treated by BLS on scene and reunited with his owner. The fire was contained to the room of origin. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the residence. The scene was turned over to the City FMO for investigation.
